Scholars Agree... - by Jeremy Duke

There are six facts about Jesus' death and resurrection that are agreed on by almost all scholars (smart people who spend their lives studying and learning). It doesn't matter whether the scholar believe in God or not, they can all agree on the historical reliability of these 6 facts. They are:

  1. Jesus was put to death on a Roman cross

  2. Jesus' disciples had experiences that they described as seeing Jesus alive, after his death

  3. Jesus' disciples were transformed by that experience so that many of them went on to die for what they believed in

  4. This all happened very early (within normal lifespans) after Jesus' death (so that if there had been evidence against the resurrection of Jesus - like someone found His body - christianity never would have taken off)

  5. James, Jesus' unbelieving brother, also was transformed by Jesus' death and resurrection

  6. Paul, a killer of early Christians, was transformed by an experience he described as meeting the resurrected Jesus.

I pray that the truth of Jesus' death and resurrection may encourage you in times when you find it hard to believe, and encourage you to share this truth with others. Everyone must decide what to do with these facts!
