Outside the Camp // Hebrews 13 // Hebrews Series
We are in a study on the Book of Hebrews, a story written to Christians with a Jewish heritage experiencing pressure, persecution and disappointment. In tough times, it is easy to turn to where you feel comfortable - your heritage.
But when Jesus comes into your life, you receive life anew - His life. Your inheritance is in Christ. Paul says in Ephesians 1:13-14:
In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
But rather than turn to Jesus, these people turned to Judaism, Angels and their own cultural heritage. But what is more valuable than communion with God? Spurgeon said that communion with God is through Christ by faith...and that God is like a land flowing with milk and honey!
'When we come to Christ by faith we have communion with God; and this is a land that floweth with milk and honey.'
So rather than turning to other solutions or ways of religion or thinking or actions, the book of Hebrews reminds us and testifies that:
Jesus is greater than.......whatever concern you are facing
Jesus is better than.......whatever solution you are considering
Jesus is superior to.......whatever the world can offer
