Without hinderance - by Ben Bonython
The Book of Acts is a selected account of the first few weeks and months and years after Jesus ascended to Heaven. While the author of the book, Luke, preserves historical aspects, clearly he is pressing a theological agenda, perhaps clearly expressed in the final verse, Acts 28:31:
He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!
This key point cannot be understated, clearly annunciated throughout the entire Book.
By the end of these 12 chapters in the Book of Acts, we will attest that at no point was gospel itself restrained or contained. This includes Peter and John being flogged, followers of Jesus being dragged out of their homes and put in prison, Peter and John put in prison, Stephen bring brutally killed and we have not even reached James, Paul, Silas and Barnabas.
The point is that the even when Paul is under house arrest, the Gospel is still going out to the whole world.
The clear message of the gospel radiating outwards reminds us that Acts grants us a certainty that the theology of mission remains well founded, tested and continues to this day. And therefore, may we shared in a unity of believers who are saved by grace, love Jesus and follow Him in view of the Gospel being shared throughout the world.
Therefore, in your everyday, let the good news of Jesus give you assurance in Him, and enable you to be bold in your faith.
