Then they will know - by Bec Bonython
Over 60 times in the book of Ezekiel this tiny, but action packed, phase is repeated.
Then they will know I am the Lord.
Then they WILL know I am the Lord.
THEN they will know I am the Lord.
Then THEY will know I am the Lord.
Then they will KNOW that I am the Lord.
Then they will know I am THE LORD.
For some of us, closeness and acknowledgement of God comes when we experience rough patches in life. For others, it is through the good times. Given that, it still makes me wonder how many times this phrase needs to be repeated in life – in our year – in our every… single…. day…!!
How often do we go through the motions of life and then go, oh yes, that’s right……….God? How often do we go through issue after issue, problem after problem, encounter after encounter and THEN think about God? How often do we question why this is happening in my life, and then realise God. How often do we have a fantastic victory, and then think about God?
This revelation of God’s character is a constant theme in Ezekiel; whether this revelation comes through His judgment (Ez 12:20, 17:21) or His mercy (Ez 36:24-38, Ez 37:6, 13). It is His desire is for people to truly know Him, to have relationship with Him, and to worship Him. God demonstrates His glory and might through His amazing acts so that we can acknowledge Him in our lives, just as He did to Ezekiel, Israel, the nations and Jerusalem.
Can I encourage you to:
· Think about God first, before our issues or problems or complaints.
· Know that God sees all and hears all in every aspect of our life.
· Understand that God sent His only Son into the world to die for us, to restore the relationship mankind once had in the garden.
· Believe that it has always been, and always will be, His deepest desire for us to know and acknowledge that HE IS THE LORD.
