Space for Grace - Rejoicing
‘your journey, your sacrifice, your desire, your space; for His grace.’
Acts 8:36-40 - As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.
Luke 15:1-7 - Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
Both these passages record the word or idea of rejoicing and joy. All of heaven rejoiced over you when Jesus came and found you. Jesus carries us home. Philip too rejoiced at what had happened, another disciple was made!
Pray that you might also experience the joy of seeing another come to Christ. Pray for workers, for Jesus said the harvest is ripe (Mt 9:37). Pray that you might be one of those workers who rejoices!
