Rest For The Soul - by Laura Duke

"Jesus said 'Come to Me and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble in heart. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light and you will find rest for your souls" - Matthew 11:28-30

I like the first bit. "Come to me and I will give you rest". I need to think about the next part. Jesus instructs us to 'take his yoke' and 'learn', and there we will find rest for our souls. This soul-rest perhaps doesn't come naturally, but it seems to be something we must take an active role in learning. I wonder, what is 'rest for your soul'?

Spend time this week meditating and reflecting on how you experience rest in your life.
When and how do you rest?

Do you rest in deeply restorative and effective ways?

How is God part of your rest?

How are you engaged in learning how to rest from Jesus?

Perhaps we might discuss these thoughts with the believers around us, share thoughts, reflections and ideas with each other. Let's come alongside each other in our journey with Christ!
