2000 years ago, Jesus shared about His passion for a ‘shared’ meal, where everything was made ready!

“A certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests.  At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’  “But they all alike began to make excuses.” Luke 14:16-18a

Jesus was announcing the end of an era through this parable with a meal that was fully prepared with nothing more to do except receive guests.  To prepare a feast and then have no one show up was unthinkable, so this parable reminds us of our role in inviting people to the table.  It could be your table, it could be church, but the key imperative is that the guest of honour, Jesus, would be shared with all those who respond to an invitation.  Be encouraged to invite others, just as Jesus taught.  Who can you invite this week?

It is important to belong to a community of believers who encourage one another in this mission of inviting others and making a difference in the world.
